Major Arcana Series

Over the winter of 2007-2008 I created mixed-media art of the 22 Major Arcana of the Tarot, the soul's journey. Although I wanted to start with a card I was feeling, I thought it would be better to start at the beginning with the Fool, since I was entering a new stage of becoming in Montpelier, Vermont. As I worked on each card, their energies interplayed with my life. They pushed and pulled lessons I needed to learn and changes I had to make into my quickly changing life. A good example was the Death card, one I was trying to rush through. In spite of my fear that I couldn't handle anymore goodbyes, one of my oldest friendships ended as I tore the canvas in grief and frustration. The creating started during the first few weeks I moved into my new apartment and ended a few weeks before I left. Here are a few of my favorite pieces.
